Program Description
These are benefits paid to the surviving spouse or surviving divorced spouse of an insured worker caring for the worker's entitled child.

General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a widow(er) or surviving divorced spouse of an individual who worked and paid US Social Security taxes and you must be caring for your former spouse’s entitled child(ren) under the age of 16 years or with a disability.
