Even Start: Indian Tribes and Tribal Organizations

Program Description
The Even Start Indian Tribes and Tribal Organizations program exists to help break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy. Specifically, they improve the educational opportunities of low-income families through family literacy programs that integrate early childhood education, adult basic education, and parenting education.

General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be Native American/American Indian, parent or primary caregiver, and you or your family member must be enrolled in a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaskan Native village. You must also be responsible for a child(ren) under the age of 19 years or responsible for a child(ren) who attends school (grades K-12).
