Alaska Special Milk Program

Program Description
Available to public and private nonprofit schools, child care centers, residential child care institutions, and other nonprofit institutions devoted to the training and care of children, including shelters which do not participate in a USDA meal program. The program reimburses for all milk served to children while in the care of the institution. Milk served to low income children may be reimbursed the full cost of the milk served.

General Program Requirements
Any child in a school or institution that participates in the Special Milk Program can get milk. Schools may elect to offer free milk to low-income children. In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of Alaska, your household's annual income before taxes must not exceed $15,119 if one person lives in the household; $20,293 if two people live in the household; $25,467 if three people live in the household; $30,641 if four people live in the household; $35,815 if five people live in the household; $40,989 if six people live in the household; $46,163 if seven people live in the household. For larger households, add $5,174 for each additional person in the home.
