Crisis Counseling
Program Description
The Crisis Counseling program provides immediate crisis counseling services to victims of a major Federally declared disaster for the purpose of relieving mental health problems caused or aggravated by a major disaster or its aftermath. Assistance provided is short-term in nature and provided at no cost to the disaster victims.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, a Presidentially declared disaster must be the cause of your unemployment, housing damage, new status as the major supporter or breadwinner of the household, or necessary disaster-related expenses (property loss, medical, funeral, transportation) for which you have received no insurance or government compensation. You also qualify if you lost the majority of your income because your employer or business was harmed by either a Presidentially declared disaster or closures mandated by a government agency.
