Program Description
This competition is designed exclusively for middle school age students who must work in teams of three or four with an adult coach. It challenges students to identify a problem in their community and solve it using science and technology. The program is designed to foster curiosity, creativity and critical thinking skills in students with diverse backgrounds, interest and abilities. Winning teams are awarded US Savings Bonds for each team member, and one winning team is given the $25,000 Columbus Foundation Community Grant to develop its idea in the community.
General Program Requirements
This competition is open to all U.S. students in grades six through eight.
