Virginia Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Program Description
The Energy Assistance Program is comprised of four components: Fuel Assistance, Crisis Assistance, Cooling Assistance and Weatherization. The Energy Assistance Program assists low-income households, particularly those with the lowest incomes that pay a high proportion of household income for home energy.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of Virginia, you must need financial assistance for home energy costs and your household's annual income before taxes must not exceed $12,103 if one person lives in the household; $16,237 if two people live in the household; $20,371 if three people live in the household; $24,505 if four people live in the household; $28,639 if five people live in the household; $32,773 if six people live in the household, or $36,907 if seven people live in the household. For larger households, add $3,180 for each additional person in the home.
