North Dakota Medicaid Program

Program Description
Medicaid is a program designed to assist individuals and families who do not have health insurance, or who have health insurance that does not cover all of the individual's or family's medical needs. Medicaid eligibility is based on income, and in some cases, assets. It provides comprehensive health coverage, as well as assistance with Medicare premiums, coinsurance and deductibles. Coverage may begin up to three months prior to the month of application. Medicaid benefits are extended to the elderly, blind or disabled individuals, pregnant women, children to the age of 21 years, and parents of eligible children.

General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of North Dakota, a US national, citizen or permanent resident in need of health care/insurance assistance, whose financial situation would be characterized as low income or very low income (or have high or very high medical expenses). You must also be either pregnant, have a household member with a disability, or be responsible for children under 21 years of age. Adults age 65 and older may also qualify.
