California Weatherization Assistance Program

Program Description
The Department of Energy, Weatherization Assistance Program (DOE WAP) has long served as the core program for delivering energy conservation services to low-income Californians. The Weatherization Assistance Program reduces the heating and cooling costs for low-income families by improving the energy efficiency of their homes and ensuring their health and safety. Among low-income households, the program focuses on those with elderly residents, individuals with disabilities, and families with children.

General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of California, you must need financial assistance for home energy costs and your household's annual income before taxes must not exceed $19,893 if one person lives in the household; $26,014 if two people live in the household; $32,136 if three people live in the household; $38,257 if four people live in the household; $44,378 if five people live in the household; $50,499 if six people live in the household, or $51,646 if seven people live in the household. For larger households, add $1,148 for each additional person in the home.
