Grants for Expanding Health Services Now Available
Application period until February 2008
An estimated total of $9 million in grant funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awaits around 60 health centers nationwide. The goal of this grant is to expand health services to underserved groups by giving funds to providers of mental health/substance abuse treatment, oral health care, and comprehensive pharmacy services.
Those expected to benefit from these expanded health services are:
- underserved populations in urban and rural areas;
- migratory and seasonal agricultural workers and their families;
- homeless people, including children and families; and
- residents of publicly-subsidized housing.
Community health centers, migrant health centers, providers of health care for the homeless, and those engaged in public housing primary care are eligible to apply for this grant opportunity.
HRSA now requires applications to be submitted online; paper submissions will no longer be accepted (with rare exceptions). To apply for this grant, you may go to www.grants.gov. The application period is from December 11, 2007 to February 12, 2008.
