Insurance Program Fit For Public Servants
Government workers can enjoy quality insurance
The government takes care of its own. The ‘Federal Long Term Insurance Care Program (FLTICP)’ provides long-term assistance for government employees.
This care pertains to help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and eating that someone may need upon having injuries, illnesses, or when reaching seniority. It also gives supervision for people who have severe cognitive impairments like Alzheimer’s disease.
The program is sponsored by the U.S. Office of Personal Management (OPM) and the insurance is supported by two renowned names in the industry — John Hancock and MetLife.
Services offered by the Facilities-Only Plan include nursing home care, care in assisted living facilities, and inpatient hospice care. The Comprehensive Plan covers all in the former plan, plus a care provided at home by a nurse or any authorized provider, care in adult day care centers, and home hospice care. Other benefits are available like getting an alternative plan care, informal caregiver provision, providing training for a family member or an informal caregiver to care for you with the use of your Daily Benefit Amount (DBA), coverage for care outside the U.S., bed reservations, respite care, a third-party claims review if ineligible due to medical evaluation, and a weekly benefit amount option
Eligible applicants are Federal and U.S. Postal Service employees and annuitants, active and retired members of the uniformed services, active members of the Selected Reserve, retired ‘grey’ reservists, separated Federal and U.S. Postal Service employees with title to a deferred annuity, D.C. Government employees and annuitants who were employed before 1 October 1987, D.C. Courts employees and annuitants, Tennessee Valley Authority employees and annuitants, Navy Personnel Command (BUPERS) NAF employees and annuitants, and ‘Compensationers’ receiving salary from the DOL. In addition, relatives of these eligible applicants may also apply.
