Keep Grandparents Secure In Your Absence
Let professionals handle the demands of low-income seniors
Sometimes, we simply do not have the time or ability to attend to the needs of elderly loved ones. Fortunately, there is a program that can help you take care of seniors.
The Senior Companion Program (SCP) assigns professional caretakers to support our beloved elderly. It attends to community and social needs to improve their current livelihood.
The grant funds 80% to the Senior Companion direct benefits. The remaining 20% will fund stipends, transportation, physical examinations, insurance, and meals. The care may take place in residential and non-residential setting, or in the homes of these seniors. They are either provided by professionals or volunteers who qualify based on set standards. Volunteer agencies cannot ask or receive compensation.
Eligible applicants are State agencies, local agencies, and private non-profit organization. Applicants must prepare evidence of low-income seniors, eligible volunteer stations, and the ability to provide matching funds. Non-profit organizations must provide evidence of non-profit status, articles of incorporation, and certificate of accounting ability.
Beneficiaries are people aged 60 and up who meet HHS Poverty Guidelines. Interested volunteers must be interested in meeting the special needs of the elderly, especially weaker seniors, and must be in top shape.
