Low-cost Web Training
Non-government professionals also welcome
Are you a web development professional? Need to brush up on your web development skills, such as on usability, content management, and design? Want to get the best training available without spending too much?
Try signing up for Web Manager University, a government sponsored training initiative. The Web Manager University targets and prioritizes government-employed web professionals who manage government web sites, but contractors and non-government participants may also register.
The Web Manager University offers four types of training sessions:
- Seminars - Short introductory sessions that usually last for 2 hours
- Courses - More in-depth professional development sessions that typically last 1-2 days
- Webinars - Also referred to as "web conferencing," these are live, short seminars presented via the Web. Participants view a presentation online and call-in to interact with the speaker and other participants.
- Workshops - Full-day events for networking with peers and learning the latest best practices. These are usually held each Spring.
Depending on the training they sign up for, government employees pay $50 to $400 per training session, while non-government participants pay $75 to $600 per session. The fees cover registration, class materials, light refreshments, payment to speakers, as well as the cost of managing the training program.
Credit card payments (through American Express, Visa, or MasterCard) are preferred. You may also pay by check or purchase order.
Except for webinars, all training sessions are held in Washington, DC. If you're located outside the Washington, DC area, it's best for you to sign up for webinars. Aside from this being a convenient option, you'd be given priority in certain situations.
The list of Spring 2008 semester classes is now available, and the registration period starts on January 3, 2008. If you'd like to know more, you can call the Web Manager University at (202) 208-0668.
