Locate the whereabouts of friends and family in other countries
Missing someone close to you? It’s just natural, especially if it’s been ages from the last time you got word. You can count on your country to have them pinpointed. The U.S. consulates and embassies will assist you in finding your friends or relatives abroad, whether you’re simply wondering where they are or you need to inform them of home emergencies.
To avail of this service, contact the Department of State, Overseas Citizens Services by calling 202-647-5225. You can also contact the American Citizens Services section of the U.S. embassy or consulate near you. Phone and fax numbers of specific U.S. embassies and consulates are provided at the info home page, http://travel.state.gov or via the automated fax service by dialing 202-647-3000.
